To mark the 75th anniversary of its re-founding in 1950, the Deutscher Künstlerbund is devoting itself to the highly topical subject of »equality«. In accordance the exhibition of the female artist group »Venus Rebellion« delves deeply into the exploration of gender identity. In their works, artists Laura Baginski, Fides Becker, Bea Emsbach, Miriam Lenk, Rokudenashiko, Annegret Soltau and Annika van Vugt investigate the complex, often paradaoxical conditions of femininity. The artists positions are united in creating unfiltered, independent perspectives on the female body, particularly the vulva, by transcending patriarchal imagery and taboos. In an extremely intimate way they show the significance of existential and political self-determination over one's own body and the transformative potential it holds for society. In light of the resurgence of reactionary forces, the issue of gender equality is more pressing than ever.
As part of the exhibition, a talk featuring representatives from the arts and cultural policy will take place on June 13, 2025, to discuss these themes.
